Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find out about school events?

Each month a calendar is sent home with students indicates all school events including minimum days when students are dismissed at 12:13.

We also have a marquee in front of the school that lists dates of important events.

The La Cañada website is a useful tool to help keep you informed of upcoming events.  Check back often as the website is updated regularly.

How do I contact my child's teacher?
Call the school office at 742-2250 and the office personnel will connect you with the teacher's voicemail so that you may leave a message.
How do I report an absence?

Call La Canada's office at 742-2250 and tell the office staff the reason for the absence.

We monitor our students' absences and if there are excessive abscences we will follow up.  It is important for students to be at school everyday on time and for them to stay all day.

How do I volunteer at La Cañada?
Contact the teacher to arrange a time to volunteer.  Then as you come to the school be sure to stop at the office to sign in and to get a volunteer pin to wear while on campus.  We love volunteers and we welcome you!

How do I drop my child off and pick them up safely?

We have many students who arrive and leave by car each day.

There are two drop off and pick up areas.

-You can use use the white curb loading zone in front of the school to drop off and pick up.  This area is not for parking.  Do not leave your vehicle.

-You can also drive into the parking lot using only the lane closest to the school.  STAY in your vehicle.  Do not leave you vehice while in the drop off and pick up lane.  If you park your vehineed to go to the office or find your child you mustcle in a parking space.  The other lane is a drive through only leave.  NEVER pick children up in the drive through lane.  It is too dangerous!

How does the breakfast and lunch program work?

Breakfast is served from 7:45-8:05 and again at the student's morning recess.  Breaksfast costs $0.75 and consists of a main item, cereal, milk, choice of fruit, and juice.

Lunch is served between 11:20-12:40 depending on grade level.  Lunch cost $0.75.  It consists of main item, fruit, vegetable, milk, and juice.

Families can apply for the free lunch program.  If the application is approved, breakfast and lunch will provided free of charge to the student.
